Have Genital Herpes?

If you have genital herpes, you know how physically and emotionally draining it can be. But remember, you don't have to suffer in silence. Many sufferers have found great comfort in some therapy sessions after being diagnosed, and usually don't need more than a few visits to gain some perspective on living with the virus.

Most major cities have support groups for STD sufferers, and many for Gential Herpes specifically. If a support group is not an option, there are support forums available online, and even dating services where you can meet someone for romance or just friendship and support. If you have genital herpes don't underestimate the healing power of just talking about your problem with someone who understands.

Herpes Duration

A herpes outbreak duration, just like symptoms, can vary from person to person. A person who is undertaking treatment, gets plenty of excercise and eats right may only have a herpes outbreak duration of a few days. Left untreated, or experienced by an unhealthy or ill person, herpes duration can last for up to three weeks.

If you are getting constant or long lasting herpes outbreaks and are otherwise healthy, you may want to consider changing treatment.

Symptoms for Herpes

Genital Herpes symptoms are wide and varied, and can differ from person to person. The most common of course is the weeping, itchy or inflamed blisters that appear on the genitals or around the genital area. It is important to be able to recognise Symptoms for Herpes especially if you feel you may be at risk of contracting the disease or have been in sexual contact with someone carrying the virus.

What are Herpes?

Please forgive the grammar of this post title, but I get so many emails asking exactly this I thought I might put it as the title so I can clear things up.

What these people are asking isn't what are genital herpes, what they mean is "What is Genital Herpes?". Genital herpes is a strain of the Herpes Simplex Virus that is usually contracted from sexual contact with another person who has the virus. Like Herpes Simplex 1, genital herpes causes outbreaks of blisters to appear on the body during a time when the immune system is weakened, usually due to stress, illness or sleep deprivation. The blisters caused by Genital Herpes appear on the genitalia (penis or vagina), rather than on the mouth or face.
